James Sloan was born in Vancouver, BC in September 1956. He graduated from St. George’s High School in Vancouver in 1975, from the British Columbia Institute of Technology in 1980, and the University of New Brunswick in 1983.

Articles were served under Peter D. Brown, ALS, and he was commissioned as an Alberta Land Surveyor on January 19, 1998.

The topic of the technical report submitted as part of the qualifying examination was “A Survey of the Natural Boundaries For Parcel 105 of the Sahtu Dene and Metis Land Claim Agreement.”

Experience includes seismic surveying in Western Canada and Saudi Arabia, oilfield surveys in Alberta and Argentina, and land claims surveys in the Northwest Territories.

Not changing diapers, and comic book collecting are a couple of Mr. Sloan's hobbies.
