John Murray Martin Campbell was registered as an Alberta Land Surveyor on January 8, 1960, having duly passed the prescribed examinations and having served under articles from February 22, 1956 to February 21, 1959 as a pupil to A.G. Stewart, ALS.

In 1970, he wrote to the Alberta Land Surveyors’ Association and indicated at that time that he was living in Australia. He needed a duplicate copy of his land surveyors’ certificate as he needed it to “make some job applications over here… since one or two positions are open to me immediately on presenting this qualification. My original was lost I believe amongst my belongings in a suitcase which I had stolen about two years ago.”

By 1981, Mr. Campbell was back in Edmonton and working on his masters degree in urban and regional planning.
