Michael Szarmes, ALS

Michael Szarmes graduated from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology with a diploma in Surveying Technology in 1987. He received a B.Sc. in Surveying Engineering in 1994 and a M.Sc. in Geomatics Engineering in 1997 from the University of Calgary.

He has also been a member of APEGA since 1997.

Articles were served from 2006 to 2012 under Tom Medlicott, ALS until he received his commission on October 30, 2012.

He is presently employed with D.A. Watt Consulting Group Ltd. Experience includes working as a survey technologist in the oilfield with Midwest Surveys Inc. during the summer of 1987 and with the University of Calgary, Education Department (Research and Development) from 1987 to 1992. He also worked as a professional engineer from 1997 to 2006 with the City of Calgary in the areas of research and development and GIS/mapping.

Michael became a member of the Canadian Forces Reserves in 1980 and has been a commissioned officer since 2003,

He plays hockey with the Calgary Garrison Hockey League and also enjoys motor cycling and camping.
