Michelle was born in Calgary in 1974 and graduated from Lord Beaverbrook High School in 1992. She received a BSc in Geography from the University of Calgary in 1997 and a diploma in Survey Technology (Honours) from SAIT in 1999.

Michelle was employed with Can- Am Geomatics from 1999 until 2009. She started writing WCBE exams in 2004 and received her certificate of completion in May 2006. Articles were served under Jacques Dupuis from May 2006 until she received her commission on April 3, 2009. She also served on the ALSA Standards Committee from 2007 to 2009.

Field experience includes surveying in the oil & gas sector throughout Alberta and southwestern Saskatchewan from 1999 to 2007, including 6.5 years as a party chief. She transferred into the Can-Am’s Calgary office in 2007 and worked as a plan checker until 2009.
