Bob Michie was born in Cheshire, England in June 1957 and immigrated to Canada in September 1969. He graduated from Richmond Senior High in British Columbia in 1976 and went on to receive a diploma in Surveying Engineering from BCIT and a B.Sc. from the University of Calgary.

Grant Cross, ALS served as principal since August 1989 until Bob received his commission on February 23, 1993. The topic of the technical report submitted as part of the qualifying examination was "Targeting for Machinery Surveys." Bob also holds a commission as a Canada Lands Surveyor.

Employment history includes legal surveys in the Lower Mainland of BC with David Lyon, BCLS from 1978-1979, topographic and construction surveys in the Prince George BC area and legal, topographic and construction surveys in the Edmonton area.

Bob enjoys cycling and hiking.
