Robert Morrison immigrated to Canada from England in 1972 at the age of twelve. After graduating from Salisbury Composite High School in 1978 he went on to receive a diploma in Survey Technology from NAIT in 1982 and a B.Sc. (specializing in Geography) from the University of Alberta in 1990.

Articles were served under Alberta Land Surveyors, Elwyn Koehler, Bruce Gudim, Syd Loeppky, and Mike Grosz. Commission as an Alberta Land Surveyor was received on January 10, 1997. Robert is also a member of the Urban Development Institute (UDI).

The topic of the technical report submitted as part of the qualifying examination was "GPS in Legal Surveys: An Analysis of the use of GPS for Legal Surveying within Alberta."

Hobbies and other interests include hiking, camping, squash, and photography.
