S. (Stephen) Nagy-Gyorgy

Stephen Nagy-Gyorgy was born in Budapest, Hungary in May 1926 and attended the University of Budapest for one year before coming to Canada in 1949.

He articled to Mel Erfle from 1954 to 1956 and then Bill Turner from 1956 to 1962 before receiving his commission as Alberta Land Surveyor 287 on November 22, 1962.

Until 1995, Mr. Nagy-Gyorgy had worked with Midwest Surveys mainly doing oilfield work (wellsites and pipelines) in Northern Alberta and some subdivision and RPR work.

In 1995, he started his own practice consisting of one crew doing primarily the same kind of work he had done for Midwest Surveys.

During his career he articled two individuals who went on to become Alberta Land Surveyors: Dave Williams and Gordie Repp.

Stephen Nagy-Gyorgy was a member of the Professional Club of Calgary for twenty years and enjoyed downhill skiing in the winter months and golf in the summer months.
