W.H. (Walter) Stilwell

On October 26, 1993 Walter Harvey Stilwell, age 84 years, passed away in Delta, BC.

Prior to coming to Calgary from Victoria, BC. in 1957 to assume a teaching role with the University of Alberta in Calgary, Walter attained a Master of Arts, a commission as a British Columbia Land Surveyor and a Dominion Land Surveyor.

After completing a limited set of examinations, he was granted an Alberta Land Surveyor's commission on February 1, 1958. Most of Walter's career was spent in the education field and in 1966 he spent a year teaching at the University of West Indies at St. Augustine, Trinidad.

Predeceased by his daughter, Nancy, in 1987, Walter was survived by his wife Elizabeth, daughter Jean, son William, daughter May, son-in-law Robert Weeks, and many grandchildren. Walter will be remembered by the many business associates and friends that he made throughout his life-long teaching career.
