This theodolite is marked COOKE, TROUGHTON & SIMMS, LTD., YORK.  ENGLAND, VO12065.

The wooden carrying case includes a lens sunshade, lens cap, a small plastic bottle which contains a small metal rod attached on the inside of the cap and a tiny bolt, one adjusting pin. There are places in the case for two other adjusting pins, a dusting brush, a small screwdriver, and a plumb bob.  Inside the case is a metal plate marked: Cook, Troughton & Simms Ltd.  Manufacturers of Precision Instruments, YORK, ENGLAND.

The wooden, fixed leg tripod has its own object number ALSA 2006.26.02. The metal top of the tripod is marked “V109” and with the logo “CTS” which presumably stands for Cook, Troughton and Simms.
