Commentary:

This sideral watch has a 24-hour face, with a hour and minute hand and a sweep second hand. It is manually wound using a thumb knob. The manufacturer, the model number or serial number are not identified on the exterior of the watch.

It is stored in a  padded, varnished wooden case which has a 4.5 cm diameter glass window on the top of the case to view the watch. The case has a small brass plate screwed into the top of the case just below the circular glass window with the inscription on it “ B M RUSTAD, A.L.S.” Bjorn Rustad ALS#229 came to Canada in 1950 from Norway and spent most of his surveying career working on baseline, meridian, and township surveys in northern Alberta with the Director of Surveys office. He was an honorary life member of the Alberta Land Surveyors’ Association.
