M.W. (Mark) Burgess

Mark Burgess was born in Ottawa in 1953, graduated from high school in Montreal in 1972 and from Alqonquin College in 1975.

Upon graduation, Mark Burgess joined the federal department of Energy Mines & Resources in Ottawa and spent eight years there, becoming a Canada Lands Surveyor, before transferring to the Alberta office in Edmonton.

During this time, he took some courses at NAIT and the University of Alberta and articled to Gord Olsson. In 1982, he was registered as Alberta Land Surveyor 526.

In 1986, Mark Burgess left Alberta and returned to Ontario and spent a number of years working for Ontario Land Surveyors in private practice there.
