The black metal calculator is set in an oak wooden triangular frame. The 30.5 cm x 6.5 cm.x 0.5 cm. calculator consists of seven indented circular dials that can be rotated by a steel stylus (missing) and seven small number holes.

A number is set by turning the dials. The first two on the right side are for cents. To add a number to the set number the dials are turned clockwise. The total is shown in the numbered holes at the top of the calculator. The carry forward mechanism only works for addition.

The front of the calculator is inscribed “THE Lightning Calculator Co. GRAND RAPIDS MICHIGAN USA”. There is an indentation at the bottom of thw wooden frame to hold a steel stylus. The bottom has two good small legs and only pieces of two broken legs; all are black in color.
