Commentary:
Path transits were made in Japan and sold by the Hughes Owens Co. in the 1950s. On the top of the vertical circle cover, there is the inscription: “MADE FOR THE HUGHES OWENS Co. Ltd. CANADA”. The horizontal and verticle scales are divided to 30 minutes, with vernier readings to 1 minute.
The transit was originally mounted on wooden base and used as a curling tropy by UMA Engineering.

Notes: The transit was loaned on July 22, 2010 to McElhanney Surveying to be part of McElhanneys 100 year exhibit at Leduc Energy Discovery Center. The Society has one oher Path Transit (SHF 2018.01.02) formerly belonging to Ed Scovill ALS.
