Commentary:
A label inside of the cover describes the instrument as a “TILTING LEVEL TYPE V. The lable also has additional specifications which are unreadable. A tilting leval enables the line of sight to be set at a specific incline, a feature applicable to road building, tunnel work and other similar applications.
Engraved on the level is “Sokkishi Toyko 16966 TTI.5. The level is mounted on an affixed rotatable tribrach,.It has a built-in retractable sun shade. A label is attached to the inside of the base of the metail container reading “NW wade 10545 – 108 ST. EDMONTON 426-0410 Date MAR. 78 Checked by” with additional unreadable markings. NW wade is the company that marketed the level. The base also has three small tool clips (no tools included). Also is a Walker, Newby & Associates Ltd. label whith was an Alberta Land Survey and Engineering Company.
