Commentary:

This miniature micrometric theodolite was used for triangulation and for general use. Because of its small size and light weight, it could be easily carried up mountains so it was often referred to as a mountain theodolite. It reads to ten seconds.

The theodolite omes with a tripod ALSA 2006.23.02.  The tripod has wooden legs, a metal cap at the top of the tripod that protecting the mechanism.

In the base of the metal carrying canister is a sun filter, a storage compartment holding a small wrench and adjusting pin, a cylinder with a holding spring for an extra eyepiece (missing eyepiece) and one small bag of silica gel.
