Commentary:
The name WESTEC is embossed on the housing for the vertical circle, The transit has oen verniers for horizontal and vertical circles with open vernier for reading direction. It includes a compass on the face of ahich is the serial number 490098.
A sticker on face of compass says “710501 PASSED JAPANESE GOVERNMENT.” indicating that the transit was made in Japan.
No information was found of a company called WESTEC regarding transits or surveying instruments.
