Commentary:
The level has a horizontal circle and a partial vertical circle for laying out slopes. It has four adjustable foot screws and three short metal legs (5 cm each) for inserting into tonger metal adjustable legs. The metal adjustable legs are 2 cm X 72 cm (l) collapsed or 132 cm (l) extended. Each leg has two thumb knurled clamps: one for holding the extension in place and the other for holding the extendable legs to the short legs attached to the instrument.
The brown wooden box with dovetail corners is 35 cm (l) X 12 (w) X 24 (h). In the case is a small instruction manual, a black metal plumb bob with nylon string. On the front of the box is a scratched up label: “Starrett ATHOL, MASS. U.S.A.”
