Commentary:
s/n S042193. This split bubble Level was Manufactured by Cooke, Troughton & Simms Ltd. of York, England. Marked on the foot screw base: “Made for The HUGHES OWENS Co. Ltd. CANADA”. The serial number is marked as “S041193” and the “Patent No. 242468” is marked above it.
The level comes in a wooden box. Hand etched on a holding bracket in the box is “Alberta Transportation A.S.C. 3048”. The box contains a dusting brush, two small instruction booklets, a protection cap for the screws on the tripod, a canvas cover for the level, and two keys for the level box.
The level has a wooden fixed leg tripod whose Object ID is ALSA2006.05.02.
