Commentary:
The wooden plane table has four brass thumb nuts at the corners to hold the paper sheet. On one side of the table is a trough compass which is used to orient the table to magnetic north. On the wood bottom of the table is a brass 7.5 cm diameter mounting plate which affixes to the tripod. Also on bottom is stamped “5200B, 446, 44 – 78” and a small logo is below the plate. The canvas bag for the plane table is 43 cm X 39 cm.
The wooden tripod can be affixed to the plane table by a single thumb screw through the centre of the base plate of the tripod. There is a broken leather strap attached to one of the legs of the tripod..
The accession for these objects also included an open-sight alidade (ALSA 2020.06.04) and an alidade (ALSA 2010.06.07).
