Commentary:
The alidade has a vertical circle and attached to the base plate is a trough compass. On the top of the Alidade’s base plate is printed “W. & L. E. GURLEY TROY, N. Y., USA 512054.” 512054 may be the serial number. Other numbers on the top of the base plate are: “999-111-168P” and “G.51-60”
On the inside of the 41 X 23 X 5.5 cm carrying case are labels for: stadia measuring, instructions for shipping and instructions for cleaning the lens. On the label for stadia measuring the manufacturers name “W. & L. E. GURLEY, TROY, N.Y. U.S.A. along with the number “3085B” is printed. On the top of the carrying case is etched “G-51-60”.
