Commentary:

This compass, which is assumed to be made by Wild Heerbrugg, Switzerland because of its color and similar construction to other Wild circular compasses, was made for mounting on an early Wild T1 (NT1) theodolite.  There is no identification on the compass.

The compass has a dampening screw (to lock the compass) on the base and a focusing eyepiece on one side. The purpose of the eyepiece is for reading the internal scale through an internal prism. The scale is graduated in even degrees from 0 to 360. The frosted glass top can be unscrewed to access the circular compass.

The brown leather carrying case is 11.5 cm (wide) X 9.5 (depth) X 9 cm (height).
