  • Accessories: Brown leather case with long strap. The case is semicircular and is about 18 cm across X 16 cm long X 4 cm wide. it has a leather flap with silver snap that holds the compass inside.

Commentary:

Surveyors Compass. c/w staff and leather case. The brass and glass compass was made by Short and Mason, London, England and is 13.5 cm (in diameter) X 1.5 cm (thick). It has two 11 cm folding sights mounted on opposite sides of the circle. The brass circle is attached to a threaded device that attaches to a clamping swivel that connects to the brass end of the wooden staff.

The light brown wooden staff is 140 cm long and is about 3.5 cm in diameter. The top end of the staff has a brass connector that attaches to the aforementioned swivel. The bottom end of the staff has a 20 cm metal pointed end.
