There are other types of levels which do not fit the description of a classic wye or dumpy level and are not automatic levels. Several of these levels are used for construction and landscaping projects. They may have a horizontal circle enabling horizontal angles to be laid out and, in some cases a tilting telescope enabling grades to be laid out for drainage, ditching and road making projects.
