Commentary:
This pair of Johnson hand-held radiophones (Walkie-Talkies) house a rechargeable battery pack (Batteries have been removed). The top of the phone has a retractable chrome antenna on it that extends to 76 cm, and collapses to 6 cm. The top also has “ON/OFF”, “VOLUME” and “SQUELCH” controls. The front of the unit has a speaker grill with a Johnson logo in the centre of it, a battery level indicator and the words “JOHNSON AM 204”. The back of the unit has a female plug in for an external antenna and two labels with the model, type and serial numbers on them.
These radiophones were used by Kinloch, Underwood and Associates for survey work in Alberta.
