Commentary:

Theodolite, Cooke, Troughton & Simms in wooden box case. Comes with Tripod ALSA 2016.04.05

The grey theodolite is about 35 cm (h) [with scope up] X 18 cm (w) [ including screws] X 15 cm (w) [including magnifying glasses. The Theodolite has a double motion horizontal angle plate; and a single motion vertical angle plate; each plate has two verniers 180 degrees from each other with attached magnifying glasses. There are various knurled knobs for locking and adjusting the transit screws on the instrument. There are three level bubbles for levelling the instrument .

It has three base plate leveling screws at the base which screws onto a tripod and six clamping pins for shuffling the instrument over the point on the ground.
Marked on the theodolite is: “COOKE, THROUGHTON & SIMMS LTD YORK. ENGLAND”..
