Commentary:
This theodolite reads directly to 20 minutes of arc on its horizontal and vertical scales; and on the verniers it reads directly to 20 seconds of arc. The Manufacturer is COOKE, TROUGHTON & SIMMS, LTD. in YORK, ENGLAND.
The carrying case is wood with an internal metal frame for holding the instrument in place and externally it has a carrying strap, a lock and two brass hasps for holding the lid. closed.
