Commentary:
This Cooke, Troughton & Simms theodolite has a double motion horizontal angle plate; and a single motion vertical angle plate. Each plate has two verniers 180 degrees from each other with attached magnifying glasses. Marked on the theodolite is “COOKE, TROUGHTON & SIMMS LTD. YORK, ENGLAND” and the serial number VO13198.
In the wooden carrying case is a lens cap, a lens sun shade, a dusting brush, two adjusting pins (one adjusting pin is missing), a small wrench and a plumb bob attachment assembly comprising of a hook, a short chain, and an attachment to to fasten the assembly to the base of the theodolite when on tripod. The plumb bob is missing.
