Commentary:

A mystery object – the specific application is unknown. It has a vertical circle with an attached level vial. The vertical circle is 11 cm in diameter with two tangent screws (one with clamp). The vertical circle is graduated in tenths and is numbered from “0” to “90” in four quadrants.

At the base of this circle is a 26 cm long aluminum arm. At each end of the arm are V shaped objects. They can be presumably placed over a long object such as a railing (or telescope) and when the vertlcal circle is leveled the slope of the railing (or telescope) can be read on the vertical circle. Similarily, presumabily, a slope can be set on the circle when laying out an object (railing, telescope or similiar object) to a desired slope.

The level comes with a brown wooden carrying case, 34 cm (l) X 16 cm (w) X 26 cm (h).
