Commentary:

The stereoscope is composed of two black cast metal frames, each holding a circular magnification glass. These frames are joined by a sliding cast scale graduated in mm with the numbers 50, 60 and 70 are in raised lettering on the scale.

The dimensions of the frames when fully extended are 15 X 5.5 cm and 12 X 5.5 cm when collapsed. The legs are 12 cm long. Cast in the top of one of the frames are the words, in raised lettering, “ABRAMS INSTRUMENT CORP LANSING, MICH. PATENTED”

The front of the 14 X 8.5 X 2 cm brown leather case is stamped with the words “CF-8 STEREOSCOPE MANUFACTURED BY ABRAMS INSTRUMENT CORP LANSING, MICHIGAN U.S.A.” and on the back of the case, written in pen, are the words “CAN-AM SURVEYS DENNIS TOMKINSON
