Commentary:
This TM-20C Sokkisha Theodolite is advertised as being designed to work with electric distance measuring systems, It has a magnification of 30X and the circle reading is displayed to 20 seconds and can be estimated to 3 seconds. This theodolite has a metal label fixed to one of its sides with the inscription “SOKKISHA TM20C MADE IN JAPAN,” and with the serial number “20075” below it.
It comes with an orange-colored plastic carrying case. A metallic label inscribed “Sokkisha MADE IN JAPAN THEODOLITE TM20C” is on the case. On the inside of the case is a white label with the instrument specifications on it. In the case are accessories that include a grey metal sun shield, a plastic battery powered light attachment for reading the internal scales, a lime green metal plumb bob with cotton string and aluminum string winder and a grey metal clip-on magnetic compass.
Several labels on the instrument , on the case and on the accessories identify the company that owned and donated it – Wirtanen Electric Edmonton, Alberta.
