The Society has approximately 20 types of EDMs grouped together by manufacturer. The first EDMs that gained wide acceptance were the Tellurometer MRA1 in the late 1950’s and the Geodimeter Model 6 in the mid 1960’s. By the end of the 1960’s, Hewlett Packard, Wild and K&E added more EDMs to the market with Sokkisha following in the early 1980s.
